What  We  Do

We train in a traditional Japanese martial art called Bujinkan Ninpo Taijutsu. Without diving too deep into what that means we practice a self defense based martial art that has its roots and traditions firmly established in up to a thousand year lineage of battle field martial arts. Our curriculum focuses on the traditional methods and weapons used by the Samurai and Ninja and we apply them to how they can help us survive a modern day violent encounter through awareness and understanding of the movement, spatial distance, and timing of an altercation.

We practice distance, timing. joint locks, throws, take downs, grappling, ground fighting, traditional and modern weapons forms. We do not implement "sparring" or full contact punches and kicks to the head, but we have a variation we refer to as Randori which is free movement and application of technique but one student is an "attacker" and one is the "defender" in order to explore a techniques advantages or limitations in different real life situations. Students can expect to gain confidence, fitness, flexibility, and an understanding of martial arts.
